Dr. Sainath K is an accomplished Chemical Engineering academician, researcher, and educator with over 15 years of teaching and research experience at B.M.S. College of Engineering (BMSCE). A VTU rank holder in Chemical Engineering (2010) and a GATE-qualified engineer, he has built a strong academic and research career combining chemical engineering fundamentals with emerging technologies.
He holds a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) and an M.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati). He joined BMSCE as an Assistant Professor in 2010 and currently serves as an Associate Professor since September 2024.
His research and academic expertise spans membrane technology for gas separation, wastewater purification, and broader areas of Chemical Engineering. His research experience also includes the synthesis and application of graphene oxide and zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF-8 and ZIF-67), as well as the stabilization of silicone oil-in-water emulsions.
In recent years, Dr. Sainath has expanded his research interests into Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, with a focus on their application to Chemical Engineering problems. He actively mentors students in interdisciplinary projects that integrate AI/ML with chemical engineering, process analysis, and engineering applications, encouraging students to explore innovative solutions to contemporary challenges.
His professional journey also includes valuable industry experience. Before pursuing his undergraduate studies at BMSCE, he earned a Diploma in Chemical Engineering from Sri Jayachamarajendra Polytechnic, Bengaluru, in 2004. He subsequently worked as a Brewer at Skol Breweries Ltd., near Hyderabad, from February 2005 to August 2007, gaining practical exposure to industrial operations.
Passionate about teaching and mentoring, Dr. Sainath is committed to inspiring young minds, nurturing technical curiosity, and empowering students to achieve their aspirations in Chemical Engineering and allied fields. His academic journey, from diploma education and industrial experience to advanced degrees from premier IITs and a growing focus on AI-driven engineering, reflects his commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and excellence in education and research.
