About Department

The Physics Department at BMS College of Engineering was established in 1946. The vision of the department is to be a dynamic, inclusive and competitive center of excellence in teaching, learning and research in Physics to ensure that the technical needs of engineering students are addressed. The Department has well qualified, experienced and highly motivated faculties. The faculties of the Department teach Applied Physics course for I year B E students. Department is offering open elective and institutional elective courses to higher semester students. Department faculties are involved in research and consultancy activities. They have received funding for conducting research from various external funding agencies such as DST, VGST, BARC etc. The department is a recognized research center under VTU since 2011 and under Mangalore University since 2018.
