Dr. Venkatesh T. Lamani is a distinguished academician, researcher, and innovator in the field of Mechanical Engineering. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the prestigious B.M.S. College of Engineering, Bangalore, one of the oldest and most reputed engineering institutions in India. Dr. Lamani holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from BEC Bagalkot under VTU, a Master’s degree in Thermal Science and Engineering from UVCE, Bangalore, and a Ph.D. from NITK Surathkal, one of India’s premier technical institutes. His doctoral research was centered on “Suitability of Biofuels and Plastic Oil Blended with Diesel in CRDI Engine”, reflecting his dedication to sustainable and alternative energy sources.
Academic & Professional Experience:
Dr. Lamani has accumulated over 15 years of academic experience, having served at leading
institutions such as:
- Acharya Institute of Technology, Bangalore
- National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal – as a research scholar
- B.M.S. College of Engineering, Bangalore – as Assistant Professor since 2017

He has guiding 3 Ph.D. scholars, completed 2 M.Tech theses, and mentored over 20 undergraduate projects. His pedagogical commitment is complemented by technical
mentorship and active involvement in curriculum and institutional development activities.
Research Expertise & Contributions:
Dr. Lamaniresearch interests span a wide range of cutting-edge topics including:
- Hydrogen Combustion and Ammonia in Internal Combustion Engines-
- Cavitation and Aeroacoustics
- Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
- Thermal system design and battery thermal management for EVS
He is proficient in simulation tools such as AVL-FIRE, OPENFOAM, and ANSYS-Chemkin. He has authored over 18 international journal articles, 30 international conference papers, 8 national conference papers and 4 book chapters. Additionally,
Dr. Lamani has successfully secured major research funding from bodies like VGST, VTU, with projects worth over Rs. 32 lakhs. His current projects include:
- Battery Thermal Management Systems for Electric Vehicles
- Novel Airfoil Designs for Wind Turbine Blades
- Domestic Heat Pump Design
Dr. Lamani is actively involved in numerous departmental and institutional committees including:
- BOS, member of Department of Mechanical Engineering, B.M.S.C.E - 2026.
- ERP Coordinator
- ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Core Committee Member
- - Internal Auditor for SEE Theory Examinations
- Competitive Exam & Higher Studies Cell Coordinator
He has also organized 5 workshops, delivered 6 invited talks, participated in over 40 faculty
