About
I am Sharad Darshan H.C., Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at B.M.S. College of Engineering, Bengaluru, with over 19 years of academic and teaching experience. My core expertise lies in High Voltage Engineering, Solid and Composite Insulation, Electromagnetic Fields, and Power System Protection. I hold a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, an M.Tech in VLSI Design and Embedded Systems, and am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in High Voltage Engineering under VTU.
Throughout my career, I have served in academic roles at reputed institutions including PESCE Mandya and Dr. AIT Bengaluru. I have contributed extensively to curriculum development, research, and academic leadership, serving in roles such as Head of Department, NSS/NCC Officer, Library Coordinator, and Event Organizer.
My engagement extends to technical and civic responsibilities, having worked with the Election Commission of India as Sector Officer, Flying Squad Officer, Master Trainer and Yuva Spandana Coordinator, Trained by NIMHANS. I have also served as a Technical Consultant to polytechnic institutions, promoting quality and innovation in engineering education.
As a life member of ISTE and a member of the Institution of Engineers (India), I actively participate in professional development and academic governance through BOS and BOE roles. I have conducted and attended over 40 workshops, FDPs, and seminars, focusing on emerging technologies including electric vehicles, smart grids, embedded systems, renewable energy, and outcome-based education.
In research, I have authored multiple papers in national and international journals and conferences, spanning topics like resonant converters, energy harvesting, and VLSI-based encryption.

Beyond my professional commitments, I am deeply passionate about student mentorship, community outreach, and the holistic advancement of engineering education. I believe in the transformative potential of technology when guided by ethics, sustainability, and social impact.
Mentorship & Student Development: I actively mentor students in academic projects, research competitions, and career preparation. My focus is on helping them connect theoretical foundations with practical, real-world challenges.
Technical Events & Community Programs: I have organized and judged numerous technical fests, project exhibitions, and IEEE/NSS activities, fostering a culture of innovation and responsibility among students.
Lifelong Learning: I regularly engage in professional development through FDPs, MOOCs, and interdisciplinary training, continuously refining my skills as an educator and researcher.
