About

I am Dr.D.Saravanan working as an assistant professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering. I completed my PhD (Full-Time) at IIT Kanpur in the department of Aerospace Engineering. The field of specialisation is high-speed Aerodynamics and done my M.Tech at Madras Institute of Technology in the Department of Aeronautical Engineering. Finished my Bachelors at Shanmugha College of Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Other Information

Achievements: Mentored aerospace department students of BMS in the Aerothon 2021 competition conducted by SAE India and students got 8th prize among the participating 77 institutions.

Funded projects worked on during my PhD:
1. Design and Fabrication of an Autonomous Flapping wing unmanned Aerial Vehicle for surveillance and aerial photography.
2. Experimental Investigation of Turbulent Buoyant plume and ceiling jet behaviour using Time-Resolved PIV (TRPIV), Shadowgraph and quantitative schlieren - BAARC Project.
3. Development of Low-cost PIV - BAARC Project.
4. Experimental Investigation of Flow and Noise characteristics of impinging twin jets, simulating starting flow from a rocket booster on a launch pad - project given by Sriharikota and it is a part of my PhD thesis.

A Yoga teacher passionate towards Hatha yoga and had given training to students from the age of 1 to 25 for participating in state-level competitions.
Hobbies - Creating my own tunes on the keyboard, Cycling to at least 10 km, Listening to Carnatic, and fusion music and symphonies, and Cooking.
