The Department of Civil Engineering, BMS College of Engineering, organized a technical talk titled “Beyond Boundaries – Civil Engineering as seen through the lens of AR-VR” on 5th December 2024 at Sir M V Hall, PG Block. The event, coordinated by Dr. Mangala Keshava, Dr. Nalina M M, and Dr. Priya V, was designed to expose UG and PG students to emerging trends in digital technologies applied to civil engineering. The session featured eminent speakers, Mr. Pavan R Vyas, Principal Consultant at Geopage Consultants and CTO at Gesix Solutions Pvt. Ltd., who shared insights on LiDAR 3D mapping, UAV photogrammetry, GIS, road safety engineering, and infrastructure consulting, and Mr. Kumaresan, Technical Lead at Someshwara Software, who highlighted the applications of Extended Reality (XR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Augmented Reality (AR) in engineering. With the participation of around 70 students, the programme provided a unique opportunity to understand how AR-VR technologies can revolutionize civil engineering practices and broaden career prospects in this interdisciplinary field.
