About

Dr. C. R. Ramakrishnaiah is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in 2010.
Dr. Ramakrishnaiah has made significant contributions to teaching, research, and academic administration. He has successfully supervised two Ph.D. scholars, two M.Sc. (Engineering) by Research students, and 81 M.Tech. students.
His research contributions include 80 published papers, which have collectively received 2,243 citations. Among these, one paper has been cited 1,622 times, while another has received 374 citations, reflecting the substantial impact of his research in the field of environmental engineering. He also actively contributes to the scientific community by serving as a peer reviewer for several international scientific journals.
In 2014, he established an Advanced Environmental Engineering Laboratory under the TEQIP-II (Government of India, World Bank-assisted Project) to strengthen postgraduate teaching and research in Environmental Engineering.
As part of academic capacity building, he organized and conducted a GIAN (Global Initiative of Academic Networks) course sponsored by the Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD), Government of India, on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), featuring an expert from Canada.
Dr. Ramakrishnaiah has held several important administrative and leadership positions. He served as Director, B.M.S. Centre of Engineering Consultancy (BMSCEC) from 2019 to 2022. Under the TEQIP-III (Government of India, World Bank-assisted Project), he worked as the Environment Management Framework (EMF) Coordinator. He also served as Chairperson of the Differently Abled Service Cell (DASC) from October 2018 to October 2025.
He has been the Coordinator of the Postgraduate Environmental Engineering Programme since 2007, demonstrating sustained leadership in postgraduate education. Since March 2023, he has been serving as the Management Representative (MR) for the implementation and certification of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS). In addition, since September 2024, he has been serving as the Chairperson for the Maintenance of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS). In this role, he oversees the continual improvement and effective implementation of environmental management practices within the institution. He also assumed the role of Chairperson for the Climate Action Unit in August 2026.
