About

Dr. Sakey Shamu is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, B.M.S. College of Engineering, Bangalore and at present is also the Director, BMS Training and Research Institute. He had his High schooling up to 12th Standard at St. Joseph’s Institutions. He graduated from University Visveswaraya College of Engineering, Bangalore and proceeded for his Post Graduate program at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras specializing in Engineering Mechanics and then joined as Lecturer in the B.M.S. Evening College of Engineering and later appointed directly as Assistant professor in Civil Engineering in the BMS College of Engineering. He proceeded for his Doctorate Degree at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras with specialization in Fracture Mechanics of Reinforced Concrete Structure. He has a varied interests in various subjects and attended courses under ISTE sponsored by Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India on subjects like Total Quality Management, Mathematical Modeling For Multi Criteria decision making in Engineering and Industry, Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographical Information System (GIS), Building Alternatives and so on. He has attended number of seminars and conferences both India and Abroad. To mention a few - The prestigious International Conference on Fracture Mechanics of Concrete Structures (FraMCoS 5) which was held at Vail, Colorado, USA, the Prestigious International conference on Fracture Mechanics of Concrete Structures (FraMCoS 6) held at Catania, Italy and an international conference at Taiwan, Republic of China (ROC). He has been an invited speaker on number of occasions one of which was at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He is a life member of India society of Technical Education (ISTE) and also member of professional bodies like the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) and so on. He has guided a number of UG/PG projects, Ph. D program and published number of papers in the National and International Journals. He headed the Department of Civil Engineering at BMS College of Engineering. He is also the Founder Director, BMS Training and Research Institute (BMSTRI) which is a unit of the BMS Educational Trust (BMSET) catering to the training needs of all the technical Institution of BMS Educational Trust in particular including public and private bodies. He also was responsible for a number of student internship programs and placements in a number of industries.
