1. | 2024 | On 17th September, 2024, Niranthara - the Solid Waste Management Unit of B.M.S.C.E. commemorated the launch of their products in the hands of Dr. Bheemsha Arya, the Principal. The products launched include: Bhoosanjivini - Microbial Consortia: A powerful blend of beneficial microbes that enhances soil health, promoting faster plant growth and nutrient absorption. Bhoovardhaka - Compost: Organic compost made from biodegradable waste,enriches soil with natural nutrients. Bhoodhatu - Vermicompost: Rich in essential nutrients and organic matter crafted by the Master Earthworms themselves! | |
2. | 2024 | Niranthara, A solid waste management unit at BMSCE has come up with production of first batch of vermicompost and sample of same has been handed over to College trust member Shri. Aviram Sharma , Wg Cdr R.A Ragavan, BMSET Director, Dr S. Muralidhara, Principal BMSCE and Garden Supervisor Sri Gundappa on 21st March 2024 at Niranathra -SWM Unit BMSCE. | |
3. | 2023 | Institute Social Responsibility Cell (ISRC) and Department of Biotechnology, BMS College of Engineering jointly established Solid Waste Management Unit - NIRANTHARA in the campus. The unit was inaugurated by Shri. Vasuki Iyengar, renowned member of SWMRT, Bengaluru. Trustees, Principal, other dignitaries and students were part of the inaugural session. Purpose of the unit is to manage plant waste, paper cups and kitchen waste generated across the campus. It opens up the options for students for Societal Services and Innovative Solid Waste Management Practices. It also addresses the environment menace by in-house management of solid waste on 3rd November 2023. | |
4. | 2023 | “Awareness camp on Menstruation for housekeeping lady staffs” was arranged by Women's Cell, B.M.S College of Engineering in association with the Department of Biotechnology, BMSCE and Indian Women’s Scientist Association, Bangalore HQ under ICSSR, GOI Short-term Empirical Research Project entitled “A Study of Social Awareness and Education about Eco-friendly Menstruation Hygiene Practices in Rural Karnataka” on 10th November 2023. | |
5. | 2022 | The department has organized an awareness program on microorganisms on the special day of ‘World Microbiome Day’ on 27th June 2022, wherein the visitors were made to visually observe the microorganisms with the aid of microscope. They were also introduced with some beneficial microbes which we come across in day today life. Few natural samples were considered from which microbes isolated and cultured. Awareness also created with respect to safety measures to be adapted to keep away the pathogenic microbes. | Download |
