ABOUT UTSAV
UTSAV is the Annual Techno-Cultural fest hosted by B.M.S. College of Engineering in Bengaluru. Over the years, UTSAV has established itself as a brand, and has become one of the biggest and most popular cultural fests hosted by any college in Bengaluru, providing an invaluable platform to explore one's talents and artistic endeavors in areas such as music, dance, literature, theater, and more. Passionate students are given ample opportunities to express themselves and compete with one another, with creativity, courage, and persistence being rewarded generously at UTSAV. Drawing participants from all over India, the festival has set new benchmarks with its events on numerous occasions, making it an unforgettable experience for years to come.
UTSAV is a landmark celebration, and has been admired for its dedication to beat with the rhythms of cosmopolitan Bengaluru. Standing tall since 1981, this mega-event has earned a distinguished reputation in South India for not only being a thriving hub of cultural excellence but also for warmly embracing everyone, regardless of any barriers.

Fondly and aptly known as the Festival of Faith, Utsav spotlit the indomitable human spirit in its 2023 edition.The theme for UTSAV 2023 was ‘Regalia’. Regalia emulates royalty - it is not just an emotion, but a way of life that makes one feel a sense of belonging while also being in an exalted state of being. Regality is experienced by those who give their all, stand firm for what they believe in, and have faith in their purpose. It does not require material possessions or money, but can be found in one's passion, vigor, and drive to achieve their dreams. In essence, true royalty is not about what one possesses, but rather about who they are and what they stand for.
UTSAV 2023 surpassed all expectations with its unparalleled range of events, offering a diverse and captivating experience to its attendees. With an extensive lineup of over 70 events spanning various creative disciplines like dance, music, theater, art, gaming, and more, UTSAV truly proved to be a celebration of art and talent.
The success of UTSAV 2023 was the result of the collective effort of 60+ sponsors and collaborators who came together, recognizing the significance of this cultural festival and its impact on the community. Their support enabled the organizers to curate a remarkable lineup of activities that truly embodied the spirit of UTSAV's legacy.
GREEN FEST
A groundbreaking initiative was undertaken to make UTSAV 2023 at BMSCE a zero-waste festival, and it turned out to be a resounding success. Embracing the principles of sustainability, the organizers implemented various eco-friendly practices to reduce the event's environmental impact. The following were some of the initiatives taken in order to facilitate a zero-waste fest:
- Waste Bins: Several waste bins were placed strategically throughout the stalls area, including separate bins for bagasse plates, wooden spoons and sticks, leftover food, paper and plastic wastes and lastly for tin cans and glass bottles.
- Waste Collection: A team of support staff was responsible for regularly emptying the waste bins and also joining hands with the volunteers from time to time to make sure things are going smoothly.
- Awareness Campaign: Before the events (like DJ night and Turtle Jam), an awareness was conducted to educate students and visitors about the importance of waste management and responsible disposal. Posters and banners were displayed, and labeled (as wet and dry) dustbins were placed in multiple college locations, emphasizing the need to segregate waste and recycle whenever possible.
- Usage of steel cutlery for meals: With the help of Adamya Chethana, we were able to arrange for the usage of steel cutlery (plates, spoons and glasses) for all meals on all three days of the fest.
THE INAUGURATION CEREMONY
The event officially began on the 26th of May, 2023 with the Inauguration Ceremony. The hosts welcomed the audience, and the event commenced with Sriraksha Nadig's invocation song.
Dignitaries lit the lamp to symbolize the triumph over darkness and seeking blessings. Dr. B. S. Ragini Narayan, Dr. Dayanand Pai, Shri. Ravi Venkatesam, Shri. Aviram Sharma, Shri. Gautam Kalathur, Dr. S Muralidhara, and Dr. Bheemsha Arya graced the occasion.
The chief guests, Vasishta Simha, Nihal Tauro, and Tanisha Kuppanda, added star-power to the inauguration. Dr. S. Muralidhara delivered a warm welcome, and UTSAV 2023's concept was explained by Raksha K Moorthy and Tanishq Deshpande.
Dr. B. S. Ragini Narayan officially opened UTSAV 2023, followed by Dr. Dayananda Pai's inspirational words. Vasishta Simha impressed with his iconic lines from KGF and a touching tribute to Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar. Nihal Tauro enchanted the crowd with his melodious vocals.Tanisha Kuppanda spoke about the grandeur of the fest, and the chief guests were honored by Dr. B S Ragini Narayan, Dr. Dayananda Pai, and Sri. Aviram Sharma. Faculty members were also recognized. The vote of thanks was given by Nischala Satish Babu and Mohit Raj Bhurat.
The official BMSCE video was launched, and UTSAV 2023's theme video received thunderous applause. The ceremony truly befitted the magnificent festival.
DJ Night
The DJ Night event, held on the night of 27th May 2023, set the stage on fire with electrifying beats and an incredible lineup of DJs. The event took place on the main stage, where DJ Sush, DJ Gandhi, and Blast Supernova showcased their exceptional talent and had the crowd grooving throughout the night.
The pulsating energy of the DJ Night captivated the audience, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with excitement and euphoria. The DJs skillfully mixed a diverse range of music genres, including EDM, hip-hop, and popular chart-toppers, ensuring there was something for everyone's taste. The event was a testament to the vibrant and dynamic spirit of UTSAV 2023, bringing together students from various disciplines to celebrate music and create lasting memories.
Whiplash
On the vibrant night of May 28, 2023, the main stage at B.M.S College Of Engineering came alive with electrifying energy as 'Whiplash,' a sensational concert, took center stage during the grand UTSAV 2023 college fest.
The event featured two remarkable artists, JukeRadio and Anjana Padmanabhan, who effortlessly transported the audience on an unforgettable musical journey through classic and modern Indian hits. The combination of their awe-inspiring performances and the palpable enthusiasm of the crowd created an electrifying atmosphere that resonated throughout the event.
FLAGSHIP EVENTS
- Mr. UtsavMr. UTSAV showcased the remarkable athleticism and dedication of numerous participants who competed in various weight classes. The event featured two intense rounds that tested the athletes' physical proportions, symmetrical development, muscularity, posing routine, and presentation.
- La Royautè (Fashion Show)
The Fashion Competition, La Royaute, held on 27th May 2023, was an exhilarating event that captivated the audience with its creativity and glamor. Organized by the fashion club, Panache, the event showcased a multitude of outfits and innovative fashion ideas, all centered around a captivating theme.Renowned industry professionals, Mithilesh Nyathappa, a choreographer, model groomer, and fashion stylist, and Lepana Nagraj, a model and influencer, adorned the judging panel with their expertise. - Sahas
An adventure-filled trio of The Wall Climbing Competition, Ad Junk, and Rappelling Competitions held by the Mountaineering Club at B.M.S College of Engineering was a resounding success. The event epitomized adventure, fostering physical fitness, courage, and mental fortitude. Sahas added a remarkable dimension to UTSAV 2023, showcasing determination and grit. - Turtle Jam The BMSCE Dance Crew hosted an electrifying dance competition called Turtle Jam as part of UTSAV 2023. This B-boy competition aimed to showcase the impressive talent of Indian B-boying on the Turtle Jam stage. The event, held on 28th May, was a resounding success.The success of Turtle Jam highlighted the vibrant dance culture within the college and added another remarkable event to the festivities of UTSAV 2023. The B-Boys' enjoyment and the crowd's enthusiasm indicate the desire for more such events in the future.

Ethnic Day
The spirit of diversity and cultural unity comes alive at BMSCE on the much-anticipated Ethnic Day, a vibrant celebration of heritage and traditions. This captivating event provided a platform for students and faculty alike to showcase their ethnic attire, embracing the rich tapestry of cultures that coexist within our community.Ethnic Day not only highlights the diverse heritage of our university but also fosters a sense of unity and appreciation for different cultures. It serves as a reminder that despite our individual backgrounds, we are united in our celebration of humanity's shared tapestry of traditions and customs.
Flashmob
The UTSAV flashmob is a legendary event that encapsulates the very spirit of BMSCE. Students come together at various locations across Bengaluru to dance their hearts out to crowd favorite tunes, bringing together the general public, creating excitement and hype for UTSAV.
Flash Mobs take immense effort, right from the creation of the dance to the scouting of locations, to practice sessions and ultimately the performance itself. The Flashmob is a BMSCE icon, one that many students look forward to each year with boundless anticipation.
THANKSGIVING
The Thanksgiving ceremony was held on the 23rd September 2023, to commemorate the efforts of the students and faculty who assiduously contributed to the success of UTSAV 2023, marking the end of yet another glorious edition of UTSAV.

About BMSCE UTSAV-Envisage 2022
UTSAV, the Annual Techno-Cultural Fest of B.M.S. College of Engineering has been one of the most splendid cultural events in India and the pride of BMSCE, since its inception in 1981. ENVISAGE, the Annual Cultural Fest of B.M.S. College of Architecture is one of the most well-known fests in the architectural domain. This year, with the amalgamation of Utsav and Envisage, we witnessed a fest of massive magnitude that pulled in crowds from across the nation.
UTSAV-ENVISAGE is a glorious fest that creates a congenial atmosphere for the youth to channel their spirits and competitive mindset to magnitude like no other. It provides a platform for interaction, innovation and exchange of ideas among the youth. This fest provides a great opportunity for students who are highly talented and passionate about their interests in cultural skill-sets such as theatre, dance, music, debate, and so on, to express themselves in the most innovative ways ever conceived.
