Dr. Rajeswari Hegde

Rajeshwari Hegde holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from National Institute of Engineering, Mysore, a Master of Engineering degree in Electronics from BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore, and a PhD from University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, Bangalore. She served as head of the Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering from December 2016 to January 2019 and took over again as Head of the department in June 2023. Currently she is serving as Dean Student Affairs and Head of the Dept of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. She served as IEEE BMSCE Student Branch Counsellor for a period of two years (2020-2022) and the Institution received several awards during her tenure as a Branch counsellor. She has published more than 160 technical papers in renowned international and national conferences and journals. She has visited Singapore and Nepal for presenting her research papers. She has also been awarded best paper awards for her presentations at international conferences. In the academic year 2022-2023, three research scholars received PhD degrees under her guidance, and three scholars are pursuing PhD degrees at VTU. She was one of the 10 experts on the worldwide panel reviewing the BETA-Test phase of the MSP430 Teaching ROM Version 2 for Texas Instruments, Dallas, and University of Beira Interior, Belgium. She is a technical reviewer of various international conferences and journals. She is also on the editorial board of reputed international Engineering journals. She has been successful in executing three projects funded by AICTE-MODROBS, Competitive Research Grants under VTU and AICTE ATAL and also a consultancy work with ABB on “A Testing and Validation Platform Motor Condition Monitoring Services” as a co-investigator.

She was a keynote speaker during the 7th International Virtual Conference on interdisciplinary Research for Sustainable Development held virtually on 25th December 2021, organized by International Institute of Organized Research - I2OR (A Registered MSME with Ministry of MSME, Government of India) and Green ThinkerZ (A Registered Society with Government of Punjab, India) in association with Centre for Smart Modern Construction, Western Sydney University, Australia and Global Edu Conclave 2023 (Virtual) organized by International Institute of Organized Research - I2OR, 5th September 2023.

She served as the organizing secretary of international Tech Symposium Phaseshift 2022, one of the biggest technical fests in South India and successfully elevating it to the first international-level Annual Tech Symposium.

She has been nominated as the VTU nominee to the Board of Studies, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Bangalore Institute of Technology, Bangalore by the Honourable Vice Chanceller, VTU for a period of three years (year26.7.2024 to 26.7.2027). She is also a board of studies member of Dr. AIT, Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bangalore and SSIT Tumkur. She is a certified Heartfulness meditation trainer who volunteers by leading meditation sessions both within the college and outside. Additionally, she has presented and published papers on the scientific benefits of meditation in various conferences and journals.

  • Prestigious Prof Indira Parikh 50 Women Education leaders’ award on the occasion of World Education Congress held on July 5th 2018 at Taj Lands End Mumbai.

  • Dewang Mehta National Education Award on September 5th 2018 at Bangalore for educational achievements, leadership and future orientation.

  • Mahim M P, Rachita, and Meghana under my guidance is one of the 30 finalists (winners) in the Asian Student Paper Competition (ASPC) 2022 organized by Universitas Islam Indonesia, Yogyakarta, Indonesia for the paper titled "Optimal Classification of Emotions from Electroencephalography (EEG) Signals".
  • Received a recognition from IUCEE foundation for guiding students Ajay Patel, Kshitij Sharma, Prasansa Bhagat on the project “Waste management of Perishable Fruits and Vegetables” in the IUCEE POPBL 2021 for securing Grade A in the project.
