Flagship Events
IEEE Xtreme:
IEEE Xtreme is a 24-hour code-a-thon conducted globally by IEEE annually for its members. With complex puzzles and mind-boggling cases, it isn’t your average run-of-the-mill hackathon. This gruelling event is conducted globally with more than 10,000 teams vying for the top spot. The 2020 edition was hosted on the 24th October with 95 participants in 48 teams representing BMSCE. The top three performers are given Xtreme t-shirts and certificates from IEEE Bangalore section. The winners of the code-a-thon at the global level are awarded a free trip to an IEEE conference of their choice anywhere in the world.
With food and snacks throughout and breaks in between, we make sure that the coders aren’t overburdened due to the heavy workload that the code-a-thon brings onto them, making it an “Xtremely” enjoyable experience. The best part is that it comes with an opportunity to interact and learn from seniors and juniors alike.

IEEE SIGs
The Special Interest Groups are one of the facets of BMSCE IEEE that makes it so popular amongst both students and teachers. With more than 300 concurrent students every year they are some of the most sought after student-organized and conducted “classes”. A combination of SIGs on topics such as AVR, Machine learning, Python, Photoshop, Aerodynamics in Automobiles and Web Development are held with the aim to encompass all technical fields and forays. Psychology and Public Speaking are some of the SIGs conducted to give students an opportunity to improve their non- technical skills as well.
With 8-10 Sessions per semester for each SIG, the students are sure to learn their respective subjects in depth. At the end of the course the students are given a test to gauge their understanding of the subject and certificates given to all students who pass the tests. The SIGs serve as a platform for growth and is something that’s surely going to be on a student’s resume whether a student or a teacher.
