About

Dr. Seemanthini K is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at B.M.S. College of Engineering (BMSCE), Bengaluru. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering, specializing in Computer Vision, from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi; an M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from R.V. College of Engineering, Bengaluru; and a B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from P.E.S. College of Engineering, Mandya.She has over 18 years of teaching experience and 11 years of research experience, with research interests spanning Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Generative AI, Large Language Models, Multimodal AI, and Intelligent Systems. She has published 50+ research papers in international journals and conferences and has contributed to research projects supported by DST, AICTE, BMSCE, and industry partners.
Dr. Seemanthini K is a VTU-recognized Ph.D. Research Supervisor and is currently guiding research scholars in emerging areas of AI and computing. She has been actively involved in industry-academia collaborations and initiatives with organizations including Infosys, Samsung, HP/HPE, TCS Research, and other industry partners. She has also coordinated industry-oriented Faculty Development Programmes and technical initiatives focused on emerging AI technologies.She has undertaken several academic and institutional responsibilities, including Board of Studies (BoS), Board of Examiners (BoE), Department Academic Committee (DAC), NBA, placement, internship, ACM, IIC, and innovation-related activities. She has served as the Faculty Sponsor of the BMSCE ACM Student Chapter and has contributed to ACM India activities, technical conferences, workshops, hackathons, and student innovation initiatives.
She has served as the Convener of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education, AICTE, and is a Certified Innovation Ambassador Trainer under IIC, MoE, and AICTE. She has delivered invited talks and served as a resource person, reviewer, technical committee member, and session chair at various national and international academic forums.Her recent academic contributions include coordinating the AICTE-sponsored IEEE International Conference on Women in Innovation, Technology & Entrepreneurship (ICWITE 2026), industry-oriented AI programmes in collaboration with Infosys, and several initiatives promoting research, innovation, entrepreneurship, industry interaction, and student development.
