The main objective of this training programme was to create awareness on safety and health issues in industrial environment. I must say that it was eye opener for all who attended this workshop. There were interactive sessions from industrial safety experts, safety consultants and experts from educational institutions. These sessions went on from 17th to 20th April 2013. All the speakers spoke about the relevance of periodic safety audits like HAZOP and HAZAN. They emphasized the need for regular training to permanent employees as well as contractual workers. The crucial role played by proper display of glow maps, safety signages, emergency exits, and emergency evacuation plans was stressed. The vital role played by the personal protective equipment (PPE) in ensuring the safety of personnel was discussed in detail with actual examples of incidents from the industries.
